Orie H. Niedzviecki was a member of Ellyn Law LLP and its predecessor, Ellyn-Barristers, from 2004 and was a partner from 2007 to 2015. He is an experienced business litigation and estates lawyer who understands the needs of his clients, locally and globally. He brings experience in Canadian and US law to provide clients with sound advice, sensible solutions and experienced advocacy. He is practicing at the law firm of O’Connor MacLeod & Hanna LLP in Oakville, Ontario.
Mr. Niedzviecki has been a member of the Ontario Bar for more than 11 years, having first become a lawyer in the State of Maryland, USA in 1996 before returning to Ontario in 1999. He is also admitted to the Bar of the District of Columbia and is conversant with many aspects of U.S. law.
He practices in the areas of business litigation, employment law, international judgment enforcement, construction litigation, libel and slander including internet defamation and estate litigation.
He has appeared as lead counsel in more than 100 cases before the Courts of Ontario and the Ontario Labour Relations Board. He heads our Estate Litigation, Employment Law and Construction Law groups. Mr. Niedzviecki currently is also a mentor under the Law Practice Program at Ryerson University.
Mr. Niedzviecki has also appeared in numerous cases in the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal.
He is the author and co-author of several law articles listed under the Publications section of this website. He has published several articles about construction law posted online at www.tiactimes.com, the magazine of the Thermal Insulation Association of Canada (“Hey! That’s my money! Savoir réclamer son dû” Spring 2009), in the Canadian Wall & Ceiling Journal (“Seek Legal Advice Early To Avoid Losing Lien Rights” Jan. 2009) and others.
Prior to his law studies at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., he received a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Utah.
Mr. Niedzviecki articled at a well-known Toronto firm and practiced litigation at two respected litigation boutiques before joining Ellyn-Barristers and subsequently becoming a partner of Ellyn Law LLP.
He is has an avid interest in bird-watching, protection of migratory birds from injury in urban areas and stamp-collecting. In addition to his law practice, he was pro bono legal counsel to the Hillel Greater Toronto, the on campus Jewish students’ society and has served on the board of a number of non-profit organizations.
Mr. Niedzviecki has a good comprehension of Hebrew and understands some French and Arabic.
